In Memory of Waclaw "Wes" Mazur, our GBM Warrior
This page is in Memory of our Dad - Waclaw "Wes" Mazur, who passed on January 13, 2023.
We did not know what Glioblastoma (GBM) was until Dad was met with a brain tumor in June 2021, two days after our parent's 37th Wedding Anniversary. To say our lives changed that day is an understatement.
Brain cancer is not often talked about, even though the brain is such an important function of our daily lives. With that, there have not been many advancements in treatment. We hope we can continue to see improvements in treatment for brain cancer, especially GBM, since the statistics have not changed and research funding is lacking.
MSKCC, together with Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, were such an important part of our lives for the past 19 months and we are forever grateful to their teams. Thank you Dr. Schaff (MSK) and Drs. Cobb and Kole (Valley) for guiding us through treatment. Even with a short battle, Dad beat the average (as was expected, since he always gave 110%). We miss him dearly and hope this small fundraiser can help others. Throughout treatment Dad was always supportive of providing data for research and even went through a clinical trial with the thought that he can help someone with GBM in the future.
We are raising money for critical brain cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering—where new discoveries are revolutionizing how cancer is diagnosed and treated. Join us in making a difference by donating in memory of our father today!
