In Memory of Gayle M. Haggerty
In October 2016 Gayle was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a rare and deadly brain cancer. The prognosis of Glioblastoma is bleak, with most patients surviving 14 months or less. But not Gayle - she persevered with grace in the face of the unimaginable surpassing that poor prognosis. True to Gayle's strong-willed nature she lived for over 3 years past her initial diagnosis. On February 12, 2020 Gayle lost her battle, but not without a fight.
Gayle approached her cancer with a humble grace and a strong determination. Those who were lucky enough to know her can attest to her strong-will and unwavering grit. Gayle was committed to not having her cancer define her, but simply a part of the story of her life.
Gayle found comfort and compassion in the care she received from her team at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She had faith that her team would do everything in their power to keep her cancer at bay. Her team helped to ease her concerns and approached her care with unwavering drive and heartwarming humor.
Her family can think of no better way to honor her memory than to raise money for brain cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. We hope the money we raise can contribute to new research and future therapies that can change the face of brain cancer from a death sentence to a future filled with hope. We hope you’ll join us in honoring our special lady.
A memorial service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home 445 West 43rd Street, New York, NY 10036 on February 20th, 2020 from 11:00 AM.
