In Memory of Rocco Buscetto
Our dad Rocco passed away on February 7, 2021, cancer free thanks to Dr. Jonathan Rosenberg and his team at MSKCC. In 2014 after having exhausted all traditional surgery and treatments dad entered into an immunotherapy trial with Dr. Rosenberg. We all knew that this was a long shot but as always dad was willing to do/try anything. He proudly told everyone he was in a "study" at MSK. He received an IV treatment every 3 weeks for about 90 minutes with little side effects. The treatment worked and all signs of cancer were diminished. We stopped the treatment in 2016 and the cancer never returned. The drug dad took in the trial is now FDA approved for bladder, lung and some breast cancers as a first line of treatment. We can never thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at MSK for giving us the additional time with our dad, he was able to know all his grandchildren, see them graduate from college, enjoy time with all his amazing friends, travel to Hawaii, see his great nieces & nephews get engaged, married and have children of their own. These are cherished memories with him we will have forever.
We ask that you help to support further research at MSKCC as you know we lost our mom to Leukemia in 2006, we feel all cancer needs to be cured and the best way to achieve this goal is to support doctors in their research.
When you give to MSK, you're making a direct impact: from innovative research that can move newly discovered drugs into clinical trials, to the cancer treatment and care patients receive every day.
Fundraising efforts can lead to important and life-changing breakthroughs in cancer research—making it possible for scientists to overcome the hurdles of funding gaps. Philanthropy provides the tools they need to swiftly pursue promising research initiatives.
