John J Geron, of Scarsdale, NY, passed away with his family by his side on September 28, 2022, at White Plains Hospital. John was born in Taylor, Pa on October 1, 1944, to the late Michael and Mary Orlowski Geron. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Carol, sons John (Helena) and Anthony (Brigit), brother Michael, aunt Delores Lenio, and 5 cherished grandchildren he loved to dote on: Jack, Robert, Seneca, Lyra and Thomas. He also leaves behind beloved in-laws Alfred (Alberta) Allen, Lynn (Per) Nordin, and Susan Allen along with many nieces and nephews who adored him.
John grew up in Moosic, Pa and graduated from Taylor Moosic High School, the University of Scranton, and he did graduate work at New York University. John was a CPA and joined the firm of Arthur Andersen in 1967. He enjoyed a distinguished career throughout the 35 years he was with the firm serving in many leadership positions, culminating as the Worldwide Practice Director. John joined Navigant Consulting in 2001 as a Managing Director of Disputes & Investigation. He worked there until his retirement in 2017. John was always grateful that he had the opportunity to work with his partners and colleagues at Arthur Andersen and Navigant, He was a mentor and inspiration to his colleagues at both firms.
An avid fisherman, John liked nothing more than hopping into a rowboat and spending a day fishing with family and friends. He loved walking, going to the gym, and skiing challenging slopes with his grandchildren. But John will be remembered most for his wit and generosity. His booming voice and larger than life personality would always fill a room with laughter and fun.
John was first and foremost a family man. He was dedicated to ensuring that everyone was happy and provided for. His greatest pleasure was being surrounded by family, and the family loved nothing more than a laughter-filled get-together at the lake house, with Big John at the grill cracking jokes and teasing everybody. John’s sense of fun and his big bear hugs will be deeply missed.
