The Cause

Cancer Care does not end with active treatment.

Today, more than 12 million people are living beyond cancer -- far more survivors than ever before! As the number of survivors grows, so does the need for programs and services targeted to the challenges they face when treatment ends.

Cope With Long-Term Issues
Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Cancer Survivorship Initiative is a model program providing a full range of comprehensive medical services designed to provide continuity of care, from active treatment through follow-up. It employs a team approach that assures cancer survivors continued access to MSKCC's expertise. This expert care is combined with an array of services, including physical rehabilitation, nutrition counseling, and psychological support, all guided by MSKCC's pioneering clinical research. Proceeds from Rock & Run on the River benefit the following:

  • Fertility preservation program
  • Bone marrow transplant clinic
  • Survivorship research
  • Online support group for young adult cancer survivors
  • Bridges, MSKCC's newsletter written by survivors for survivors
