Fundraising Answers:

Q: How do I raise funds for Rock & Run?

A: Online fundraising is easy. Just visit your Participant Center to customize your Personal Page. From there, you can raise funds using the handy e-mail tool that enables you to upload your address book and send messages that link to your page. You also have online access to proven fundraising tips, as well as a Rock & Run Facebook application that enables you to spread the word about Rock & Run to your Facebook friends. We encourage you to raise as much as possible to support MSK's Cancer Survivorship Initiative.

Top

Q: What information can be included on my Rock & Run Personal Page?

A: Share your story and personalize your page, because the more people know about your commitment, the more successful your fundraising will be. If you will be providing personal information about other people on your personal page -- including family members or friends whose lives have been touched by cancer -- please be sure to consult with them first, in case they have concerns about seeing such information made public.

Top

Q: Is there a fundraising minimum? Are there fundraising incentives?

A: The suggested fundraising minimum is $250 per participant -- but you can set your sights even higher. Every participant who raises $250 or more will earn the exclusive 2009 Rock & Run commemorative T-shirt designed by Carmen Marc Valvo. Top teams and participants are eligible to earn a variety of additional incentive prizes based on their fundraising total.

Top

Q: How long will it take for donations to be processed and counted toward my fundraising total?  Is there a difference between online donations and mail-in donations?

A: Online donations are processed automatically and immediately applied to your fundraising total. Offline gifts (made by check and money order) will be processed and applied to your fundraising total within seven to ten business days.

Top

Q: What is a matching gift program? How can I participate?

A: Many companies have programs that match their employees' charitable contributions. This can double -- and sometimes triple -- the amount of a donation at no additional cost to the employee. When your friends and family contribute to Rock & Run, remember to ask if they work for a company with a matching gift program. Your donors can check with their human resources department to find out if Memorial Sloan-Kettering is one of the charities their company supports. Or you can check online by using the easy search tool here. See our Matching Gift page for more information.
