The Society actively raises funds throughout the year to support its patient care programs and research grants. The Society of MSKCC is well-known in New York City for its exciting and successful fundraising events. Dedicated friends of The Society and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center care passionately about our programs and come together to support them. Among these annual events are the Preview Party for the International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show, the family-favorite Bunny Hop, the Associates Fall Dance, and the most recently established event, the Spring Ball. Over many years, funds raised at these events and others have been used to support innovative basic and clinical research as well as to make visible improvements to the ambiance of Memorial Hospital with the goal of providing special comforts for patients. Among the improvements and enhancements have been video phones for the use of patients who are in isolation before and after bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, the refurbishment of waiting areas – including the Memorial Hospital lobby and the Blood Donor Room – and a DVD library for patients. Other programs in patient care and education that benefit from these events are administered through the Social Service Comittee, the Children's Committee and the Education Committee. 2009 Calendar of Events
