The Third Annual Spring Ball took place on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the Pierre Hotel in New York. The 2010 co-chairmen were Tory Burch, Shelley Carr, Dee Dee Ricks, and Jamie Tisch. This year's sponsor was David Yurman. Grammy Award winner Mary J. Blige performed, and guests danced to DJ Cassidy.


The event honored Lasker Award-winner Charles L. Sawyers, M.D., chair of MSKCC's Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program (HOPP). Under Dr. Sawyers's leadership, HOPP scientists are collaborating with other MSKCC colleagues on translational research to move closer to finding a cure for cancer. Thanks to the work coming out of HOPP laboratories, two exciting new drugs -- one for prostate cancer and one for melanoma -- are now showing very promising results.

The Spring Ball raised over $1.4 million, with $260,000 raised for Dr. Sawyers's groundbreaking initiative focusing on human genomes.
