Dear Family and Friends,
I am grateful and thrilled to say that I am riding in my eighth Cycle for Survival event this year!  Despite all of the advances you’ve likely heard about in the treatment of cancer, we need your support of rare cancer research more than ever. While I am continuing my ever challenging battle against a rare cancer, I am sad to tell you that my dear mom is also now battling a rare cancer (pancreatic). She’s strong and a fighter, too (I had to get it somewhere!), but I ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

I know many of you have been impacted by cancer, whether directly or through a loved one, so you know the importance of funding rare cancer research. Many of you also know that cancer becomes resistant to chemo, sometimes after only months, so we need to constantly develop new treatments through research and testing. In fact, I’ve now burned through the currently FDA-approved multiple myeloma treatments suitable for me, so my survival hinges on finding new treatments in clinical trials researching new drugs.

I want to do what I can to keep others from having to endure a battle with cancer. That is my reason for riding again in Cycle for Survival, the national indoor team cycling event that has raised funds in support of lifesaving research on rare cancers (e.g., pancreatic, all childhood cancers, certain leukemias, myeloma). Cycle for Survival riders and donors make a tangible impact on rare cancer patients and their loved-ones: 100% of funds raised go directly to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, a renown cancer research institute.

Why Do I Ride?
**I ride with pride to honor fellow patients and my loved-ones who battle cancer. Cycle for Survival is a way for me to fight back.
**I ride because not enough treatment options for people with rare cancers exist. Cycle for Survival is committed to changing that by funding innovative clinical trials, studies, and research initiatives.
**I ride because I want to contribute to lifesaving research.
**I ride with thousands of fellow cyclers worldwide. Together we are fighting to provide renewed hope to patients and their loved ones around the world. Not only is this hope very real, but the support and encouragement of the CFS community is amazing.

How Can You Help?
You can help by making a gift to my Cycle for Survival ride! Within six months of the ride, 100% of every single dollar I raise will go directly to Memorial Sloan-Kettering for research on rare cancers. So, with your donation, you will have an immediate impact on those fighting cancer.

Together, we can truly make a difference!

It’s time.
