JOIN THE BATTLE. GIVE TO BEAT RARE CANCERS.
This June I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer – seemingly out of nowhere. I was a fit, healthy 66 year-old woman out playing 18 holes of golf feeling “just a bit bloated” the day before I was diagnosed. Why? Because ovarian cancer likes to hide until it’s in a late stage and there is NO SCREENING TEST for ovarian cancer. I went for my annual visits with my primary care and gynecologist just 3 months prior with no measurable signs of the disease! Now I'm up against the battle of my life under my amazing team at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Team Suzi-G is here to advocate for everyone battling this rare cancer (yes, rare – incidence rate in the USA of 22,000 women/year). We're also here to raise money to help better understand ovarian cancer, treatment and screening. I have two daughtes and they both have two daughters… we now understand first-hand how scary it is to know we are all at risk for a deadly disease that is not found until it’s in its latest stages… even scarier is that every woman out there has no way of knowing they are harboring the disease until it’s found (likely in stage 3 or 4), because we have no reliable screening tools! There is a mammogram for breast cancer and a colonoscopy for colon cancer, both of which are routinely ordered as reliable screening tools for everyone when appropriate. Ovarian cancer has no such tool.
Every dollar raised (yes, 100%) goes directly to the researchers at Memorial Sloan Kettering within six months of the ride.
On Saturday, March 10th, 2018 I will be riding with Team Suzi-G – a three-bike/12 person team with a mission of raising as much money as possible for the fight against ovarian cancer. My Husband and I have generously pledged a $20,000 match of any funds raised by TEAM SUZI-G beginning on September 27, 2017 until the ride on March 10th, 2018.
Any donation size is appreciated!
Everyone has a woman in their life that they’d like to protect from this disease.
Please help us find a way!
