JOIN THE BATTLE. GIVE TO BEAT RARE CANCERS.

As some of you may know, in 2016, my  colleague Bill Markey (Real Estate) formed a team of MetLife colleagues to participate in Cycle For Survival, honoring his late wife Linda. Cycle for Survival supports rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Cycle For Survival was founded in 2007 and to date has raised over $190 million and funded over 100+ clinical trials.

I’m honored to participate as part of the MetLife Team for the third year in a row. Cycle For Survival has events across the U.S. and our local ride takes place on February 2, 2019 in Summit. I am proud that my company supports this cause. The MetLife Foundation has already matched $500,000 in contributions during this year’s fundraising campaign.

But the fight isn’t over by a long shot and that’s why I’m asking for your support for this important cause. As we begin the new year, I hope you will make a contribution and join me in the fight to beat rare cancers. For those of you who have donated in year's past, I thank you for your continued support.

Why I Ride

Almost everyone has a relative, friend or loved one who has battled cancer, some successfully, others not. I am no different in this regard. In addition to my grandmother Toby (who lost her battle with Colon and Liver Cancer in the mid-1960s when there were no effective treatments for cancer) my two best childhood friends, Andy (Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) and Dan (Brain Cancer) have lost their battles in the last decade. I ride to honor each of them and with the hope that I can make a small difference.

My Cycle For Survival Journey
During my first ride, I was amazed at the community of people coming together, each with their own story. It was an intense, emotional, inspiring day and I couldn’t wait to do it again.

During my second ride, I was thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the cause and I looked forward to the day when I wouldn’t have to ride again, because a cure had been found.

This my third year, after having my own very brief, non-life threatening cancer experience, I’m thankful that I am fully healthy and can ride again.

I thank you in advance for your attention, generosity and support. Join the Battle and help discover new and better cancer treatments for patients.

Thank you again and all the best in 2019, Todd
#JOIN THE BATTLE.

Why this matters to me:

50% of People with Cancer Have a Rare Cancer
When combined, about half of all patients fighting cancer are fighting a rare cancer. These are cancers we know — such as leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid, ovarian, brain, pancreatic, and all pediatric cancers — yet research is largely underfunded.

100% Goes to Lifesaving Research Led by MSK
Every dollar you give will advance innovative studies and clinical trials led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Discoveries made by MSK revolutionize how cancer is diagnosed and treated, helping patients across the country and around the world.

6 Months for Fast Impact
Not only does every dollar go to research, your gift will be in the hands of doctors and researchers within six months of the events. As a donor, you will learn about the projects supported and the breakthroughs made.

Thank you for your support!
