Beat Rare Cancers by Funding Desperately Needed Treatment Research
Michael and I are again raising money (our 10th year) for rare cancer research with Cycle for Survival, and together we can change lives.
RARE CANCERS ARE NOT ACTUALLY RARE - We all know people who have had one
Roughly half of all cancer patients are fighting a “rare” form of the disease. These are diseases we all know: all children’s cancers (yes, all), leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid, ovarian and pancreatic cancers are among the hundreds of cancer types classified as rare.
The term “rare” has been invented by pharmaceutical companies to rationalize why they do not fund research to treat these cancers. The only reason is that they have decided they will not turn a profit. Government funding does not pick up the slack.
As a result:
PATIENTS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TREATMENT OPTIONS - This Is Truly Frghtening
For many rare cancer patients, including most children with cancer, there is no game plan or treatment protocol—and that's a very scary thing. Cycle for Survival is committed to changing this reality through funding new clinical trials, studies, and research initiatives to propel forward progress. In its first ten years, Cycle for Survival has already raised more than $100 million—and we will not stop until we beat rare cancers.
100% OF EVERY DOLLAR YOU DONATE GOES IMMEDIATELY TO CLINICAL RESEARCH TO FIND SOLUTIONS AT MSK.
Yes, 100%. There are no administrative costs that take a cent of your money for anything but immediate practical clinical research to find solutions.
Why this is important to us:
I am an ovarian cancer survivor and I am here today because of my dream team of physicians, nurses, technicians and all the dedicated people at MSKCC. They combine state of the art humane clinical care with a committment to research to find solutions for patients like no other place in the world.
Cancer took my brother from us before he saw his children grow up. His grandchildren will never know him. Bother Michael's grandmothers died in his childhood from "rare" cancers. Michael’s mother survived breast cancer to die recently from another cancer.
What you can do:
DONATE TO SUPPORT LIFESAVING RESEARCH - There Is No Amount Too Small
Breast cancer and lung cancer research are well funded. You will immediately fund “rare” cancer research to find effective treatments for people suffering right now. Our government and the pharmaceutical industry are not doing enough. It is up to us! Your donation will make a difference.
Join the Battle!
Thank you for your support!
Love to all,
Diana & Michael DeMeo
