JOIN THE BATTLE. Beat Rare Cancers.
Welcome to our team's page!
In February 2017, we participated in our first ever Cycle for Survival! It was an amazing experience and we are looking forward to do it again this February 2018. There is nothing like a room full of people, all coming together to raise money to find a cure for cancer.
This year we ride in memory of Bill Schmalz -- who fought a tough battle with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer.
Although Bill will not be riding this year, he will be there in spirit. As each of us are riding, we will feel his presence and know that he is cheering us on. He is and was an inspiration to many and I hope that we can continue his legacy year after year. Never once did he complain about the hand he was dealt, but took each day as a blessing. Not every day was a good day, but we tried to make the best of even the worst ones. It was our family motto -- "Today is a good day!" I am still amazed by the strength and courage he fought with each and every day. He is missed dearly, but I know that he is never too far.
We are raising money for Cycle for Survival, the movement to beat rare cancers. Not every cancer has a treatment plan. Some are just a clinical trial where you hope for the best. By raising money, we can help more people survive thsi deadly disease. Whether it is a young child, an elderly person or someone in between, we need to find a cure for everyone.
Will you help us surpass our fundraising goal? Last year our goal was $5,000 dollars. For 2018, I am challenging my team to raise double that. Let's raise $10,000 this year!!!
Rare cancer research is underfunded, but we can change that. While we can’t all be doctors or researchers, we can raise the money that makes their lifesaving work possible. Cycle for Survival supporters have funded over one hundred clinical trials and studies, leading to new discoveries that are helping patients today.
But there is still more work to be done.
100% of every dollar you give funds pioneering research led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center within six months of the events.
About 50% of all people diagnosed with cancer are battling a rare cancer. Too many people are touched by this disease, and yet many with rare cancers don’t have a proven, if any, treatment plan—that’s unacceptable.
Help us: Join our team or make a donation today. Your efforts will fight cancer and make a real impact.
Thank you in advance for your support! Together, we can bring new and better treatments to patients worldwide.
