JOIN THE BATTLE. Beat Rare Cancers.
One of my best childhood friends, Shaina, introduced me to the idea of this when she rode a few years ago in honor of my mom, who died of pancreatic cancer in July of 2015. Our moms had been incredibly close their whole lives and Shaina's mom and dad were instrumental in my mom's treatment, truly at the core of our caregiving team.
This year Shaina (who lives in New York) and I are once again doing an East Coast to West Coast team to raise money for rare cancer research through Cycle for Survival.
When my mother, a seemingly healthy 65-year-old woman was diagnosed with one of these rare cancers, our whole family was blindedsided by it, to say the least. Every dollar raised by our team will go directly to research efforts within six months of the event so we can take comfort in knowing it will have an immediate impact.
I'm riding in honor of her, and I am so honored that so many friends volunteered to ride and fundraise on behalf of their loved ones as well.
