Team Onward and Upward
Dear Family + Friends,
I learned the importance of charity at a young age from my Grandmother (or more affectionately called Bubbie). My Grandfather was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 1999 at the age of 60. He was given no survival rate and told to go home and enjoy his last days with his family. That was 20 years ago and July 30th he will be celebrating his 20th anniversary in remission. A truly unfathomable and unheard of feat. My Bubbie jumped into action and stayed 42 straight days in the hospital until he was able to go home. She was helped by a local Cancer support charity, Ruth Newman Shapiro, and after that she joined their Committee Board and was granted a lifetime honorary member. Unfortunately, we lost my Bubbie on July 11th.
I would love to honor her memory and make her proud by joining Team Onward and Upward because.....
One of my best friend's fiancé was diagnosed last March, with stage IV Colorectal Cancer at the age of 49. Charlie and Kendra are 2 of the most positive, inspirational people I know, and to add a cherry on top of their amazing attitudes, they are raising over $100,000 to give back to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center all while running the 2019 NYC Marathon. Oh yeah.. ALSO all while Charlie is kicking butt during his cancer treatments.
If you have a loved one who has been given more days because of cancer research, or if you love these 2 people like I do, please consider making a donation today.
The purpose behind this event is to raise as much money as possible for cancer research to benefit Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, MSKCC. Charlie is being treated by some of the greatest doctors in the world at MSKCC and 100% of the funds raised will go directly to research for better treatments and ultimately, a cure.
Our team’s name is “Onward and Upward” - the slogan attached to Charlie's journey in treatment from day 1. If you are able to support our team, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you are not able to donate at this time, we just ask for your positive well wishes!
Every dollar raised is another important stride toward progress — and brings us one step closer to a world without cancer.
With endless gratitude,
