Fundraising Honor Roll

Once more into the fray…This November 9th, I’m once again participating in CYCLE FOR SURVIVAL’S “ALL EXTREME” RIDE to raise money for Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center and their rare cancer research programs. 5 years ago, MSK saved my life, literally. In 2015, I received a double umbilical cord blood stem cell transplant to treat my extremely rare form of leukemia. This procedure, developed with the work of the amazing doctors and researchers at MSK, was used for the first time to treat my type of cancer, mylofibrosis, successfully…on me. Trust me, I’m the luckiest person on the planet. And last year, I was honored to be the spokesperson for the Extreme Ride, where we raised over $200,000 with this one event. If you want the full story, click the video on the upper right of this page - yes, that's me last year.

I and 39 other riders will ride non-stop on a spin bike – 4 hours, 4 instructors, 40 riders; minimum $4,000+ dollars raised per rider…100% for rare cancer research. Why? I owe everything to the extraordinary nurses, doctors, researchers and staff who gave me my life back. A little “sufferfest” in the saddle is the least I can do to say thank you.

So, once again, as I’ve done so often in the past, I’m reaching out for a little fundraising help. I know we all get hit up for this sort of thing all the time, so no worries if you take a pass. But I can assure you, this effort and your donations saves lives – mine included.

Some important facts to consider:
50% of People with Cancer Have a Rare Cancer
When combined, about half of all patients fighting cancer are fighting a rare cancer. These are cancers we know — such as leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid, ovarian, brain, pancreatic, and all pediatric cancers — yet research is largely underfunded.
100% Goes to Lifesaving Research Led by MSK
My own leukemia doctor won a CfS grant last year. Every dollar you give will advance innovative studies and clinical trials led by MSK. Discoveries made by MSK revolutionize how cancer is diagnosed and treated, helping patients across the country and around the world.
6 Months for Fast Impact
Not only does every dollar go to research, your gift will be in the hands of doctors and researchers within six months of the events. As a donor, you will learn about the projects supported and the breakthroughs made.

As always, thank you so very much for your help and your support!
