Team Spinning for Simo is once again riding and raising money for rare cancer research. As most of you know, I lost my husband Jon to sarcoma in June 2012.  Not a day goes by that my son and I don't think of him and wish we could have had a different outcome.  Unfortunately, research for his rare cancer was underfunded and there were no reliable treatments that targeted this type of disease.  That is why I got involved in Cycle for Survival.

Did you know that, when combined, about half of all patients fighting cancer are fighting a rare cancer? These are cancers you’ve likely heard of — such as leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid, ovarian, brain, pancreatic, and all pediatric cancers.

The best part of this particular event? Every dollar you give funds innovative studies and clinical trials led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). That's 100% of donation dollars going to support life saving research.  Discoveries made by MSK revolutionize how cancer is diagnosed and treated, helping patients everywhere.

Rare cancer research is underfunded, and too often people don’t have proven treatments. Time matters. Your gift will be in the hands of researchers six months after fundraising ends and, as a donor, you will learn about the projects supported.  To date, our team has raised over $200,000 for this cause.  It is my hope that we can continue to honor Jon's memory by helping other families find better outcomes.

With love,
