Welcome to My Fred's Team Page

Name: Laura McDonald
Event: USAT Long Course National Championships
Date: 11/10/2019

I’m back at it again team! Time to gear up for race season.  I had a bit of a rough start to the year when I experienced an overuse injury (I’ve since learned to listen to my coach, imagine that) and couldn’t run for two months.  I had to shorten the distance of one race and cancel out of another one altogether.

But I’m back in action and ready to go for the last four big big races of the year- two national championship races (Olympic distance in Cleveland August 10th, half Ironman distance in Miami November 9th), and back to back World Championships (Olympic distance in Switzerland August 31st and half Ironman distance in France September 7th). After a record breaking season for me last year (Personal records in all distance events, podiums in all but one, a course record, and a National Championship), I’m ready to go even faster this year.

As always, I’m competing and raising money with Fred's Team to support critical cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). I’m committed to making a difference in the lives of countless people touched by cancer.

By now you know my story, how cancer stole my hero and best friend- my Mom, so I race with her in my heart and fundraise in her name. This  year I will also be racing and raising money in honor of a client of mine, the amazing Amanda Salas, who was diagnosed with lymphoma this year and is currently undergoing treatment- and kicking cancer’s ass.  Every penny counts, so anything you can donate is appreciated infinitely.

By donating to my races, you will be giving doctors and researchers at MSK the funding they need to make groundbreaking discoveries and conduct lifesaving clinical trials. Every dollar raised is another important stride toward progress — and brings us one step closer to a world without cancer.
