Operation Marathon Accepted

In June 2016, I lost my mother, Stefa Hasson, to cancer. I signed up to run the 2017 NYC marathon in her memory to give back to the incredible community at MSKCC that fought on her behalf and on behalf of all those who face this indiscriminate disease. Together we raised  $33,000 for uterine cancer research.

In January 2018, Miki, the child of a family friend, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a complicated cancer that required her family to uproot their lives from Israel to NYC to seek treatment at MSKCC. I signed up to run the 2018 NYC marathon in her honor. Together we raised $35,000 for pediatric cancer research. Team Miki (myself and two fellow runners) collectively raised $60,000. In January 2019, Miki returned home to Israel due largely to the care she received at MSKCC.

In December 2018, my family suffered the loss of a matriach to pancreatic cancer: a form of cancer with no known cure. Shifra R. Epstein, known affectionately as Oma, was someone with unparalleled charisma who lived life by her own terms, and, at all times, exhibited exceptional style and grace. I dedicate this year's marathon to Oma. Operation Marathon Accepted.

Any and all support in the fight against cancer is appreciated and will be recognized.
