Welcome to Our Team Page
January 18, 2019 changed all of our lives forever when we found out what no one ever wants to hear let alone try to imagine. Our beautiful, healthy, amazing, and young new Mom Amanda was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
While it has been a roller coaster couple of months since in trying to process or comprehend what is at hand, learning as much as we possibly can, and getting started with treatment -- one thing has remained the same and that is Amanda's unbelievable strength and attitude to beat this terrible disease one day at a time.
We are so very fortunate to be surrounded by the most amazing family, friends, and co-workers as a support system for which we are forever grateful. Our daughter Rory is a constant reminder of love and happiness with her infectious smile that never ceases to stop and will make you laugh anytime a bright spot is needed.
Rory gets that same smile from her incredible Mother that continues to brighten everyone else's day even if it might be her worst, the same smile that is seemingly laughing through treatments as toxins are being poured into her body, and the same smile that jokes about brain freeze and not being able to feel her face after a full day of frozen velcro cold caps. It is amazing what a smile can do. It instantly changes your feelings, your mindset, and that current moment. If Amanda can be smiling through all of that, then none of our days can be as bad as they may sometimes seem.
This is why we choose hope and try to enjoy every day, every moment, and make sure that we are laughing throughout it all. There is no gift like the present and worrying about it does not take away tomorrow's troubles, it takes away today's peace. A powerful message that we found states: Cancer cannot touch your mind, it cannot touch your heart, and it cannot touch your soul. Amanda's mind, heart, and soul has positively impacted our lives in ways that we simply cannot put into words. She is THE example of enjoying today and absolutely everything that is has to offer.
She is the reason why Derk (brother-in law), Richard (uncle), Katelyn (cousin) and myself (husband) have decided to team up with Fred's Team to run the New York City Marathon this November in support of her. We hope that you consider supporting our team, Miles for Manny, as we hope to bring continued awareness to fighting this horrible disease and shedding light on our beautiful Amanda.
Thank you for your consideration and make sure to smile today!
Michael, Derk, Richard, and Katelyn
